Signing Day is the national day when high school senior athletes formally commit to the collegiate level. This is a major achievement that takes years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice. No matter what college an athlete chooses to play at, signing is a HUGE deal.
SSA Signing Day is a whole school assembly. Each athlete signing to a college has her own table that is dressed with her future school colors, pictures, balloons, and memorabilia. SSA Athletic Director Charles Richard announces each athlete along with her many accomplishments. The athletes’ families and coaches gather around them as they sign their official letter of intent.
This year, three seniors signed letters of intent: Emilee Duet, Gabby Hall and Addison Pontiff. Duet will play basketball at the University of Mobile. Hall will swim at Colorado State University. Pontiff will play basketball at the University of the Ozarks. Duet and Pontiff have played SSA varsity basketball since eighth grade, as well as AAU basketball, and have earned a number of accolades including MVPs, all district, all metro, and are members of the SSA 1000 Point Club. Hall has been a varsity Swimmer for SSA since she was a freshman and has also earned many accolades including 4x Team State Champion and multiple individual state titles . We are so proud of all of three girls and cannot wait to see their success in the future!!!
