Have you ever wondered what a certain teacher does outside of school? Mrs. Stephanie Davis is a theology teacher here who does so much for the school, including the amazing retreats. This article answers questions about what she has been working on outside of the academy.
- Are you currently working on any projects?
I just finished Lent which was really busy. I was so blessed to do a Three Day Preached Retreat for the Lay Associates of the Congregation of St. Joseph and a junior retreat for the juniors at St. Joseph Academy. I have been writing some resources for Ignatian Ministries to help people in prayer. We also lead a Lenten Retreat in everyday life and at the Archdiocese Spirituality Center. Too, I am working with a couple others on several retreats for this summer. We will host three different directed retreats through the Archdiocese Spirituality Center and, my favorite, a preached retreat for women in August called Everything is Holy Now!
- I remember you mentioning a book last year, can you expand on what it’s about?
I began working on a book on prayer a couple of years ago. The book is about how to hear the voice of God. At times, we feel like we are all alone and God is not with us because we are unsure on how to hear the voice of God in our everyday lives. Think about when we do Lord’s Day in our theology class, we are training ourselves to listen for God’s voice. Where has God not been (pow)? Where has God been (wow)? And, where do we seek God’s grace? This is a very basic form of St. Ignatius’ Examen. Many of you know that I am trained as an Ignatian Spiritual Director. The book is about getting those thoughts down and it has proven more challenging than I first thought, but I am still working. Please pray for me!
- What’s your favorite thing to do outside of school
Outside of school I most like to spend time with my daughter Abby who lives in Mobile and goes to Spring Hill, my daughter Emma who is in Edinburgh, Scotland this semester, as well as my truly incredible husband, Michael. I like listening to music, planting flowers, READING!!!, and drinking coffee at different coffee shops.
