Doves March for Life

March for Life is a trip that happens in January where a group of our doves travel to Washington D.C. to march for the protection of all life. This year, the trip was from January 18-22. 33 doves and three chaperones, along with the Archdiocese of New Orleans, went on a 24-hour bus ride to get there. The doves arrived at their hotel where they were welcomed with a fun night with live music from the band, The Vigil Project. For the rest of the days in D.C, we continued with the ministry nights. The ministry nights were events filled with fun games, songs and time in adoration. There was also a meeting with speakers Ashley Gilliam and Jacob Tonglet, directors with Louisiana Right to Life about the Pro-Life movement.

Over the course of the trip, the doves got the opportunity to explore the National Mall and go to various museums. We went to The National American History Museum, Natural History Museum, The Holocaust Museum and more. There was also a day of touring all of the different monuments. We also went to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception where we saw all of the beautiful architecture and art.

On the day of the March we went back to the National Mall where the March takes place. There was a fun rally before it began where everyone heard from different speakers about the March and its purpose. One of the speakers was Jonathan Roumie, who is best known for his role as Jesus in “The Chosen.” Once the March began, it was so fun and exciting to see all of the people marching for the same cause-to speak for those who don’t have a voice. This is important because it raises awareness for people who are in situations where they don’t know what to do, and shows that they are not alone. The March for Life pilgrimage was an unforgettable experience and it is such an important trip.
